What will our archaeological layer look like?

The Archeology Vest began with a simple question: if our lives were frozen in time today, what objects would remain to tell our story? Embedded within layers of paint and 3D printed textures are traces of everyday life preserved like artifacts within a geological stratum.

Rendered entirely in black, this version shifts attention toward texture, shadow, and accumulation. Surface details emerge gradually, much like evidence uncovered through excavation. The piece invites viewers to consider the material culture of the present and the objects that silently document how we live.

Each layer builds upon the one before it. Just as cities are continuously rewritten through construction, maintenance, personal expression, and time, people grow through accumulation rather than replacement. The past is not erased. It becomes the foundation for what comes next.
